Psst…
So, hi there.
My name is Dean and this is my first time at Interactive Designers Anonymous.
I can’t stop thinking of ideas to make things interactive using any technology available and I need help. It’s been two minutes since my last interaction.
Serisously though I love design of visuals that I can play with, change and most of all have fun with. This is why I also need to attend Gamers Anonymous. I’m constantly amazed at the creativity of people working with everything from flash games to projecting interactive animations from moving cars. Such a cool time to be alive.
Some background then. I started off way back in 2000 as a Multimedia Designer when people still thought that was a title that conveyed meaning but meant you actually just did web design and knew more about video and sound than anyone else. That transformed into running my own Internet design firm for five years and then becoming a Flash person who designs and codes. Recently I’ve taken a step sideways, picking up Silverlight which I started just before the introduction of 2 and now living through the release of 3.
Silverlight’s been a pretty good ride so far though the amount of design blogs on Silverlight is sadly lacking (with some key exceptions) so I’m hoping to help that out as much as I can.
Although Silverlight and Flash are what I mostly do I’m very keenly interested in a vast and scattered array of other cool sounding things to make myself appear knowledgable such as Processing, any of the augmented reality APIs / toolkits around, the Unity game development platform and iPhone game development.
Also much to the disgust of my wallet I’m desperately interested in any form of new human computer interaction device you can find. I’m the proud owner of one of the now relatively rare FingerWorks iGesture pads (tech now owned by Apple) and am intrigued by a few products I need to own very shortly such as the Novint Falcon the head tracking awesome of NaturalPoint’s TrackIR 5 and any multitouch finger tracking, wireless thing that allows you to be Tom Cruise like Oblong’s G-Speak interface.
I’m sure I do other extra curricular things to relax as well but right now I’m a bit busy to consider what they might be
